One-month milestone pictures are a great way to document your baby’s growth. They can be fun and exciting to look back on as your child grows older. In this blog post, we will discuss some tips for taking great one-month milestone pictures!
When it Comes to Newborn and Baby Photoshoot – Timing is All
First, it is important to choose a good time to take pictures. Ideally, you will want to take them when your baby is awake and happy. You may also want to consider taking them after a feeding, as babies tend to be more content after eating. As for time intervals, of course, the best thing to do will be to take the first photo on the first day of your newborn! In the first month, I would consider also taking some more photos in the first 2-3 weeks, as newborns change so fast in their first weeks of life! By taking plenty of pictures in the first month, and then taking a few more photos every month (at least) you’ll sure get a beautiful album by their 1st birthday 🙂
Equipment you’ll need
Next, you will need to prepare for the photoshoot. You don’t need any special equipment as most smartphone cameras today are absolutely great. Just make sure you have plenty of light and a clean background. If you’re taking pictures indoors, try to find a spot near a window with natural light.
Get Creative With Poses or Keep the Same Pose?
Once you’re all set up, it’s time to start taking some pictures! Try to capture your baby’s personality in the photos. If they are smiley and happy, capture that! If they are more serious and solemn, that’s great too. Get creative with your angles and compositions. You can also try to take photos of your baby in similar poses every month. That way, you can see how much they’ve grown! The part that will have the most significant change is their head and face, so be sure to focus on that area. You can also take their photos with their parents, showing the family together as time flies. Plus, in this way you’ll say the bond created between the baby and the parents, the baby grows in their hands, and the parents get more tired between every photoshoot as months pass by.
My Top Creative Poses for 1-Month Milestone Pictures for Babys
If you still want to get creative and have a uniqe photoshoot, here are my best ideas for 1-Month Milestone photoshoot: (1 Idea for every month!!)
In the first month, your baby will be developing its sense of touch. They will also start to develop their vision and hearing. By the end of the first month, your baby will be able to lift its head up for a short period of time. For this month I would stick with a basic photo that focuses on your newborn’s head!
In the second month, your baby will start to develop their sense of taste. They will also start to develop their fine motor skills. By the end of the second month, your baby will be able to hold its head up for a longer period of time. For the second month, I would take a photo of your baby with its favorite food so far! it’s funny to see how much their sense of taste can change over time, and this can be a great memory.
In the third month, your baby will start to develop its sense of smell. They will also start to develop their gross motor skills. By the end of the third month, your baby will be able to sit up with support. For this photo, I would try to take a picture of your baby sitting or playing with his favorite toy.
In the fourth month, your baby will start to develop their sense of balance. They will also start to develop their language skills. By the end of the fourth month, your baby will be able to stand up with support. I would definitly take this month’s photo of your baby’s first time standing! nothing get’s more exciting than this. (well maybe just the time he’ll say his first words)
In the fifth month, your baby will continue to develop their sense of balance. They will also continue to develop their language skills. By the end of the fifth month, your baby will be able to take their first steps. A first step photo! Can’t wait to see that!
In the sixth month, your baby will continue to develop their language skills. By the end of the sixth month, your baby will be able to say their first words. Taking a photo of your baby talking might be a real challange. You can try do this, or try to take a different photo of them laughing or sleeping in their tiny little bed.
In the seventh month, your baby will start to develop their social skills. By the end of the seventh month, your baby will be able to wave bye-bye. For this month I would go with a picture of your baby holding his arm up and waving! again, as this might be hard to catch, you can try every other pose as well.
In the eighth month, your baby will continue to develop their social skills. By the end of the eighth month, your baby will be able to clap their hands. I think that clapping hands is easier to catch in real-time as it lasts longer than waving. So there you go, your first challenging mission!
In the ninth month, your baby will continue to develop their social skills. By the end of the ninth month, your baby will be able to crawl. Of course, for this month I would go for a crawl photo. Nothing tricky for the photographer here. Just try and get to their level as much as possible for the photo! Don’t take this photo while standing!
In the tenth month, your baby will start to develop their thinking skills. By the end of the tenth month, your baby will be able to stand up without support. First time standing up! this will be a great photo 🙂
In the eleventh month, your baby will continue to develop their thinking skills. By the end of the eleventh month, your baby will be able to walk without support. Some of them will walk fast, so make sure you catch up with the speed to catch a good photo! Consider wearing running shoes for this one.
In the twelfth month, your baby will continue to develop their thinking skills. By the end of the twelfth month, your baby will be able to run. Oops. You should have saved your energy for this month. A great photo will be the baby running to one of the parents to get a hug. I absolutely love these photos.
By documenting your baby’s growth with monthly milestone pictures, you will be able to look back and see how much they have grown and changed in their first year of life!
